Fishing fail.....

Dave loves to read a website called fail blog. It shows pictures of people failing at things. He sent me this one at work since I have to deal with ADA compliance.

Nice. The best part is that they painted the tree. We wouldn't want you to not see it and hit your wheelchair on the tree. How thoughtful!

Well I couldn't help but think of Dave's failblog as we tried to fish today. It was free fishing day in Utah so we packed up the boys and headed up to Baker lake. Of course everyone else knew it was free fishing day too, and by the time we got to the lake the only shady spot was not quite a choice spot. After Dave caught several casts in the trees and hooked his finger we decided just to get a day spot in the camp ground and BBQ some hot dogs. That quickly turned into Dinner fail as we were caught in swarms of nats that followed us from one picnic table to the next. We finally decided that with grumpy kids and grumpier adults we should just head back to St. George and use one of the ponds at a park.

That actually made the day better. Grass is a lot nicer to have under foot and the kids had something to do when they got bored of fishing. (Which was about 23 seconds in)

Dave was going nuts trying to prepare and cast poles for the boys. By the time he finished with one- he had to go back and untangle another. I pretty much spent the day laughing at him as he grumped form kid to kid.

Zachary started to notice that there were fish swimming close to the shore. He grabbed the net and swooped it into the water in hopes to get a fish. Dave just got done explaining to Zach that he would never catch a fish that way when Zachary raised the net with the day's only catch!

It was one of those days where everything went wrong, but overall we had fun. And Oliver got to do a little boy rite of passage and play with worms.
